Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

We may collect:

  • Email address
  • First name and last name
  • Phone number
  • Usage Data

We also collect this information:

  • Form answers. When you send one of our forms, we store your answers in our customer records. We also store the page that referred you and any campaign tags in the link you followed.
  • Booking details. When you book a time, we store your name, email address, chosen time and time zone, and any guests or note you add.
  • Emails. We keep the emails we send you and the replies you send us. Our emails may record when you open them and which links you click.
  • Business details. We may add business details about you from data providers, such as your company and job title.
  • Device and browser data. When you send a form or book a time, Google reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and browser to check for automated abuse.

Usage Data

Collected automatically and may include IP address, browser type, device data, and usage patterns. Our web pages may record each visit. A visit record holds your IP address, approximate location, device, browser, referring page, and time on the page.

Tracking Technologies and Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to track activity and improve our Service. These include:

  • Session Cookies
  • Persistent Cookies
  • Web Beacons

For visitors in the United States, some of our web pages set a cookie that recognizes your browser for up to a year. If you confirm your email address to open one of our pages, a second cookie remembers it for 30 days after your last visit.

If you open one of our pages from a link in our email, we may link your browser to that email address. When we recognize you, we connect your visits to our record of you, if we have one.

Steerco, our identity resolution service, may set a cookie of its own to recognize your browser, including on other websites that use Steerco. It identifies people only when they visit from the United States, and when your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we don’t recognize you across websites. See US State Privacy Rights below to opt out.

Our emails carry a small image that tells us when you open them. Google reCAPTCHA may set a cookie of its own. Some pages use cookies from Meta and Google to measure ad results. They don’t load for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. A page that asks you to confirm your email address needs its cookie to let you in.

Use of Your Personal Data

We may use Personal Data to:

  • Provide and maintain our Service
  • Manage Your Account
  • Perform contracts
  • Contact You (including via SMS, email, or phone)
  • Send offers and updates related to tax planning services
  • Manage requests
  • Conduct business transfers
  • Analyze and improve services
  • Reply to your request and follow up on it, including by email
  • Schedule your meeting and email you about it
  • Keep our records of the people and companies we work with
  • Learn which pages and campaigns bring people to us
  • Keep spam and abuse off our pages

Legal Bases

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases:

  • Steps you ask us to take. When you book a time or send a request, we use your details to do what you asked.
  • Legitimate interests. We follow up on requests, learn which pages work, and keep out abuse. We weigh these interests against your rights.
  • Consent. Where you give consent, such as by ticking a box on a form, we rely on it. You can withdraw it at any time.

SMS Communications and Consent

By providing Your phone number and opting in to receive SMS communications from Golden Tax Relief, You consent to receive text messages related to our services, including appointment reminders, account notifications, and marketing messages where permitted by law.

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Message and data rates may apply.

We respect Your privacy. SMS opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the Text Message services.

Sharing of Your Personal Data

We may share Your personal information in the following situations:

With Service Providers: To monitor and analyze the use of our Service, to contact You.
For business transfers: In connection with mergers, acquisitions, or asset sales.
With Affiliates: Entities under common control with the Company.
With Your consent: For any other disclosed purpose.

These services handle some of your information for us:

  • Hosting and email providers. They host our pages, keep our records, and send our email.
  • Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook. When you book a time, we add the meeting to our calendar in Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook. Your invitation carries a Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link.
  • Google reCAPTCHA. Our forms and booking pages use reCAPTCHA to keep out spam and abuse. It sends information about your device and browser to Google. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
  • Google Fonts. Our pages load their typefaces from Google, which receives your IP address.
  • Meta and Google ads. Some pages tell Meta and Google about your visit, so we can measure our ads. This doesn’t happen for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
  • Steerco. Our pages use Steerco, an identity resolution service. Steerco receives information about your browser and visit, may recognize your browser from a visit to another website that uses Steerco, and may connect your visits to your name and email address. It identifies people only when they visit from the United States. You can opt out at any time: Do not sell or share my personal information.
  • Data providers. To find business details about you, we may share your name, email address, or company with them.

However, this does not include SMS opt-in data and consent, which is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Retention of Your Personal Data

We retain Personal Data only as long as necessary for legal and operational purposes. We keep your information while we need it for the purposes in this policy, or until you ask us to delete it. We may keep some records longer where the law requires it.

Transfer of Your Personal Data

Your data may be processed outside Your jurisdiction, with appropriate safeguards in place. Our service providers may process your information in the United States and in other countries. Where the law requires safeguards for these transfers, we rely on measures such as standard contractual clauses.

Delete Your Personal Data

You may request deletion or modification of your data by contacting us or accessing your account.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask what information we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete your information.
  • Object to how we use your information, or ask us to limit it.
  • Get your information in a format you can take elsewhere.
  • Withdraw consent you gave us.

To stop our emails, use the unsubscribe link where an email has one, or reply and ask us. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

US State Privacy Rights

In US states with privacy laws, such as California, you may have the right to know, get, correct, and delete your personal information.

Our pages use Steerco, an identity resolution service. Steerco may recognize your browser from a visit to another website that uses Steerco, and connect your visits to your name and email address. Steerco identifies people only when they visit from the United States.

To opt out at any time, visit Do not sell or share my personal information.

We honor Global Privacy Control. When your browser sends it, we don’t recognize you across websites, and we ask Meta and Google to use your visit only to measure our ads.

We will not treat you differently for using your rights. An authorized agent may make a request for you, and we may need to confirm your identity first.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

We may disclose data:

  • For business transactions
  • For legal requirements, or when the law requires it
  • To protect our rights and the safety of others

Security of Your Personal Data

We take reasonable measures to protect Your data but cannot guarantee absolute security. We serve our pages over encrypted connections and check requests for spam and abuse. No way of sending or storing information is completely secure.

Children’s Privacy

Our pages are not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child gave us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to Other Websites

We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this policy and will notify users of changes. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page.
